American Idol Update: Chicken Little Leaves the Roost
With what may be the first official surprise of American Idol Season Five, Kevin Covias was the unlucky contestant to be given the boot. A lot of people didn't see this coming, but I wasn't surprised that he was the one to be sent home. He is a sixteen year old boy who lacks the experience and stage presence that the other contestants his age have, and the other contestants are older and seasoned singers, some even from touring bands. As a result, they always outshine Kevin. Kevin has a nice voice, but it isn't fully developed yet and at times sounds very young. He has great potential, but he still has a bit of growing up to do.
I believe the reason that he lasted so long is because he has very strong confidence and a large likability factor. He looks like a junior-high schooler and is someone who all the little girls have crushes on. His voters truly did consist of eighty year old ladies and eleven year old girls. Unfortunately, that is a small demographic and they go to bed before the voting block is over. The rest of us probably wanted to squish his cheeks, but not vote for him. He doesn't have the stage presence, vocals, confidence, or style to win. That's a lot going against him, but he was winning the battle for longer than I expected.
I absolutely adored Kevin. I thought he was the sweetest thing ever. He wasn't the contestant that I wanted to win, but I did vote for him a few times the night he christened himself the "Next Sex Symbol". That was the funniest thing I'd ever heard in my life. Kevin probably knew that it was anything but the truth, but it was a great thing to say anyway. Every time I see him, I started giggling because he was so little next to the big stage and even bigger people. He looked like a little kid and maybe that's what kept him on for so long. I will miss Chicken Little, but it was time for him to leave to make room for the future American Idol to take the stage.
Hey everybody!! Before I sign off I wanted to talk about my podcast. Sorry it's been such a long time without an update. The good news is that my heart is fine and I am feeling much better. The doctors never could figure out what was wrong, but whatever it was, I'm finally getting over it. I've got a three song podcast coming out tomorrow! It's a lot of work and I'm definitely feeling the hurt, but I wanted to thank you all for staying subscribed. Please let your friends know about my show. Hiiiiiiii Brin!!!!! I've been pretty busy. Sorry I haven't been here. I liked Kevin not as much as like he can win but I did like him. He is sooooooo cute. I'm an eleven year old myself and I did fine him cute but not like voting crazy for him like my best friend does. I thought he was going to make it to the top 8 and I thought that Bucky was going to get out, he was like blah. Well not really like blah, I just can't find the right words. ~Queen

Queen- Bucky is a polished amateur instead of an uncut jewel like the rest of the contestants. He has charm and a fun personality, but his singing ability doesn't tell us why the heck he's still in the competition. I think that he should have left last week instead of Kevin, despite how much I like Bucky as a person. Kevin was adorable and I couldn't help but giggle at him every week. I was sad to see him go.
Nancy- I liked Kevin too. He reminded me of a little brother even though he's older than me. He was just sweet as powdered sugar. I liked what he brought to the show even though he wasn't competition to the other contestants. I just wanted to squish him! Chris, Elliot, and Taylor are without a doubt the most talented males in the competition. You have good taste!
