Bitz of Brin (Enhanced) - Podcast #35 - Will the Real Ace Young Please Stand Up?
http://BitzofBrin.com - 27 March 2006 - I celebrate my one year anniversary with three songs for you, and scoop the Big Boys with an American Idol controversy. Thank you for taking time to listen to my podcast.(My podcast is iPod enhanced. To hear the plain old MP3 version, click here.)
Take a look at these two shots from the exact same spot in the performance:

The first one is during the live performance, and the second one is during the recap of the live performance. Notice a difference? If the show is truly live, then how is there two difference performances by Ace Young in the same live hour? My first guess is that somebody goofed and they showed a clip from a dress rehearsal - we know they have those. But a dress rehearsal with a full live audience? I'm not sure what to think. I'm just surprised nobody else has picked up on this. What do you think about it?
Enjoy My Podcast! ♥

They use a recap from the dress rehersal for last person, and sometimes even the last two people. They have always done this.

This is old news. AI has always had a full dress rehearsal in front of a live audience. From that, the clips for the end-of-show recap are drawn. This is also how they arrange the contestants, having heard their performances already.
Sheesh! Give the kid a break. She's 14. It's not like AI advertises this, anyway.
Hey, great podcast, Brin! Happy Birthday. :) When are you going to sing us some more of your original music?
Its great to hear you again. Nice show! talk to you later!
Leah and Anonymous- If you read the blog entry underneath the photos of the different performances, you will see that my first guess what that it WAS from a dress rehearsal. I have been following American Idol for five years and have read an awful lot about it, but never found anywhere that confirmed that the clips were from the dress rehearsal. If you could send me your source, that would be great. Thanks!
Apple and Open Mic- Thanks so much for the positive feedback! It's great to hear from you two again.
I think Ryan Seacrest mentioned it when he had his tv show but that was two years ago. They may have mentioned it on the show at that time also, but if you didn't happen to catch it there's no way you could have known.
Sometimes the rehearsels sound better than the live. It's probably during rehearsels when they decide who's going to get the spotlight at the end of the show.
hiiiiiiii Brin!!!! Yeah, I've notice that.I love the podcast!!!! Bye!!!!
brin, you rocked today
you were the bestest person in the talent show!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband is a sound tech, and he says that all the recaps they show at the end of each episode are from each contestant's sound check, which are done right before the live broadcast. The reason they use these for the recaps is that the producers don't have enough time to edit out clips from the live performances, so they use these sound checks instead. If you listen and watch carefully, you can tell that none of them are exactly the same as the actual performance.
